This website is actually a blog run by two women and their recipes are known for being consistently delicious. Their recipe index is very useful and allows you to browse by category, such as 30-minute meals, healthy meals, poultry, pork, sandwiches, etc. They have a huge following on Facebook and also give useful cooking instruction and information about cookware, techniques, etc.

This website is the mother of all recipe websites. Yummly is basically a search engine that will show you the most popular recipes from thousands of cooking sites and blogs for whatever you’re looking for. You can search by the name of a dish, an ingredient, or a flavor you desire, and Yummly will show you the best recipes on the web for your search terms. They also have a rating system where users can save a recipe, marking it with the “yum” tag. You can see how popular a recipe is by how many “yums” it has. Yummly is both useful and genius.

Let’s be real: whether or not you love (or even like) cooking, sometimes there just isn’t enough time to make that great gourmet meal for your family. And chances are if you do have time to make it, some picky eaters won’t appreciate it. This website is a lifesaver – started by a woman who, as the name indicates, hates cooking but wanted to learn to love it. Her recipes are categorized and easy to search and include plenty of notes. BONUS: she also offers a free weekly meal planner to help you get your grocery shopping and meal planning organized.

gatheredtable (gatheredtable.com)

We like gatheredtable because it does a lot of planning for you. You sign up, and immediately the website has a calendar set up for you with suggested recipes. Much of the struggle with cooking comes from knowing where to start, and this helps overcome that. The calendar is easily modified, and recipes are quickly searched and added. And your grocery list is automatically updated based on the recipes you choose.

Food Network (foodnetwork.com)

Sometimes following a written recipe, especially for a complicated dish, is overwhelming. It’s so frustrating to spend time, effort, and money on making a dish only to have it not turn out. Food Network is a great resource for recipes because it posts VIDEOS that show you step by step instructions. You can pause, rewind, or skip ahead all you want and follow them exactly. It’s much easier to “do as one does” than to “do as one says.”
